Meet The Doctors at Canton Valley Dental
Charles J. Keefe, DMD
Dr. Charles Keefe, a native of Hartford, attended Northwest Catholic High School and went on to graduate from CW Post College in Long Island, New York with a major in Biology. He earned his dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Keefe opened Canton Valley Dental in 1977 and has been in practice for over 40 years at the same location. He keeps up to date on many continuing education classes, ensuring that his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care. Dr Keefe is a member of the American Dental Association and the Connecticut State Dental Association.
Dr Keefe started the Wide Open Golf Tournament in 1984 to support the local school systems with their drug and alcohol abuse programs. His son, Dr. Matt Keefe, has taken the lead in running the tournament for the past few years. He enjoys sports, boating, playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren. Dr Keefe and his wife, Sally, have three children and twelve grandchildren (3 boys and 9 girls!).
His son, Dr Matthew Keefe is a partner at Canton Valley Dental.
Matthew P. Keefe, DMD
Dr. Matthew Keefe joined Canton Valley Dental in 2006. Prior to graduating from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Dr. Matt studied biology at the University of Scranton. He grew up in Avon, where he attended Avon High School.
He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Connecticut Dental Association. Dr. Matt enjoys working with both adults and children and strives to show how convenient and comfortable dental care can be.
Outside the office, he enjoys playing golf and coaching his kids’ sports teams. He also volunteers in many capacities, including serving as President of Canton Travel Basketball. For the past fifteen years, he has led the organization of the Wide Open Golf Tournament, which supports local school systems and their drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs.
Dr. Matt, his wife Ali, their children Brayden, Avery, Nolan, and Maeve, and their golden retriever, Melvin, reside in Canton.
Theresa F. Keefe, DMD
Dr. Theresa Keefe received her dental degree from The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where she received numerous accolades and awards. She has had extensive post doctorate training including a two year general practice residency, serving as Chief Resident her second year, at Long Island Jewish Hospital and Medical Center in New York and a two year residency in Prosthodontics at The Manhattan Veterans Administration and NYU School of Dental Medicine.
She taught at The University of Texas, Houston Branch, and at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine both in the Departments of Prosthodontics. She has been in private practice for over 25 years. Her hobbies include sailing, running, fishing, and yoga. She is also a member of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department. Dr. Keefe grew up in Canton and attended the Canton Public Schools. She is married and has two sons.
Janot J. Bente, DMD
Dr. Janot Bente grew up in Delaware and studied biology at the University of Delaware. She earned her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed a general practice residency. Dr Bente has been in private practice for over 30 years and with Canton Valley Dental for over 20 years. While staying current in general dentistry, Dr. Bente has a special interest in cosmetic and implant dentistry.
Her hobbies include gardening, cooking, travel, teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) and has been in a book club for many years.
Jo-Ann Castellone, DMD
Dr. Jo-Ann Castellone was born and raised in North Providence, Rhode Island. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Mount Holyoke College, she went on to receive her Doctorate in General Dentistry from Boston University’s Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry. She practiced for several years in the Boston area with two notable general dentists before relocating to Connecticut with her husband.
Dr. Castellone has been providing general dental care in Canton, Connecticut, for more than twenty-five years. Her hobbies include knitting, sourdough bread baking, and taking every opportunity to enjoy the fresh New England air through cycling, golfing, and skiing. She resides in New Hartford with her husband and son.
Lisa O. Fredrickson, DMD
Dr. Lisa Fredrickson is dedicated to providing compassionate, comfortable care for patients of all ages. She earned her undergraduate degree from Boston University, graduating summa cum laude with a focus in cellular biology, molecular biology, and genetics, and a minor in dance. She then went on to earn her dental degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dentistry, where she received multiple awards and accolades. Dr. Fredrickson continued her education with a General Practice Residency at Northwell Health in New York, where she received advanced training in all facets of general dentistry. She remains committed to continuing education to provide the highest quality of care in a positive, comfortable environment.
When not treating patients, Dr. Fredrickson enjoys staying active. A lifelong dancer, she takes aerial silks classes and is a founding member of Moxie Dance Company, a West Hartford–based modern dance company. She is also an avid reader and loves spending time outdoors fishing, kayaking, biking, and relaxing with her husband and their two cats.
