Think Pink, Practice Pink

Canton Valley Dental is participating again this year in "Think Pink, Practice Pink" to raise awareness and support to find a cure for breast cancer and other cancers. A portion of the cost of pink dental supplies in the month of October goes to support The American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge, which is a network of free temporary housing services throughout the country where cancer patients and their loved ones are given a comfortable and supportive place to stay during their treatment. They are also provided with information to help them make decisions about disease treatment. Look for the pink supplies the next time you come in to our office.

The Chris Herren Story

Please join us Wednesday October 11th at 7 pm at the Canton High School Auditorium for the public presentation of The Chris Herren Story. This is a free event.

Canton Valley Dental and the 36th Wide Open Golf Tournament sponsor this event and make it possible to be open to the public. Seating will be first come, first served and we expect the auditorium to fill quickly.

The organizers of the Wide Open Tournament comprised of Dave Regan, Ryan Mains, Fran Amara and Dr. Matthew Keefe, chose Chris Herren to present to all of the area High School students in support of their substance abuse programs with hope to help students understand how detrimental drugs and alcohol can be to a career and personal life.

Career Expo at Avon High School

April 5,2017,  Dr. Tracey volunteered her time at the Avon High School Career Expo. She informed students about job responsibilities, training required, salary range, average day and work week, opportunities for advancement, skills needed and the best and least attractive aspects of the dental profession. She had a lot of fun interacting with the students and answering questions they had about dentistry. Thank you and good luck Avon High School Students in your future endeavors!

Canton Valley Dental Celebrates 40 Years!!

40 years ago on March 12th Canton Valley Dental opened its doors. It all started with Dr. Charles Keefe and his two sisters acting as his front office staff. They had one patient walk through the doors that first day. They called that first day a success, put the "closed" sign on the front door and went out for Chinese food to celebrate!

Fast forward 40 years later and they are still practicing in that same building on the 2nd floor. The old purple exam rooms have been updated, new technology has been incorporated, and the staff has grown to over twenty people including 5 doctors (two of which are Dr. Keefe's sister and son)

We want to thank all of our patients, new and old! We look forward to continuing to providing the best possible dental care in the Farmington Valley!

Give Kids a Smile 2017

Each year Give Kids a Smile day is celebrated nationally on the first Friday in February. GKAS events are intended to be touch points for children who do not receive dental care, for whatever reason.

On February 3rd, Dr. Tracey Keefe and Dr. Matthew Keefe volunteered their time to provide free dental services to children in need. We spread the word earlier in the year to neighboring school districts and surrounding charitable organizations such as the Canton/Avon food banks about this event. They treated children between the ages of 2 to 20 years old by providing basic routine cleanings and also more extensive procedures such as sealants, extractions and fillings.

Through this program nationally more than 5 million underserved children have received free oral health services since 2003.

Congratulations Dr. Tracey!

Saturday February 4th, Dr. Tracey, along with fellow Avon volunteer firefighter Pastor Joe Piccarillo from Avon Methodist Church, completed a 41 flight climb for air challenge in Boston. Dr. Tracey even won a medal for fastest female firefighter in her age group!

Annual Jersey Day

Every year on the Thursday before the Super Bowl the staff participate in Jersey Day. Each of the staff members wears a jersey of their favorite team to work; and for those who do not have a jersey, Dr. Matt makes sure to supply jerseys of his favorite team the Jets! We decorate the office in the colors and logos of the team's in the Super Bowl and throw a party during lunch.

With Heavy Hearts

We at Canton Valley Dental believe that family is most important.  With that said, we would like to inform our patient family of the recent passing of one of our own.  Although many of you may not have had the chance to meet our very special Karen Doyon (KD to us), we want all of you to know that Karen lost her long courageous battle with cancer this past week.  KD was a dedicated and committed member of our Canton Valley Dental family and she will be greatly missed.
