On October 7th, 164 golfers gathered at Blue Fox Run in Avon for the 35th Annual Wide Open Golf Classic Tournament and Charity Fundraiser. Organizers of the tournament were Dave Regan, Ryan Mains, Fran Amara and Dr. Matthew Keefe from Canton Valley Dental.
This year’s tournament raised over $13,000, to help support not only the Anti-Drug and Alcohol Abuse programs of the local high schools (Canton and Northwestern Regional 7), but also the organization Smile Train®, a charity organization that covers the cost of cleft palate repair surgeries for children in need and The Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Oncology Department (CCMC).
On October 6th, 2017, The Wide Open will be celebrating its 36th Golf Tournament Charity Fundraiser at Blue Fox Run in Avon. If you would consider sponsoring a hole for next year’s event or participating, please contact Jill at Canton Valley Dental, (860) 693-0887.
Canton Valley Dental is participating again this year in "Think Pink, Practice Pink" to raise awareness and support to find a cure for breast cancer and other cancers. A portion of the cost of pink dental supplies in the month of October goes to support The American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge, which is a network of free temporary housing services throughout the country where cancer patients and their loved ones are given a comfortable and supportive place to stay during their treatment. They are also provided with information to help them make decisions about disease treatment. Look for the pink supplies the next time you come in to our office.

On December 18th as part of our office Christmas Office Party, we decided to do something in the true spirit of the Holiday's. We visited the Hospital of Special care in New Britian and spent time with the children there. What an amazing group of children. We had so much fun bringing them Christmas gifts and just playing wtih them. One of the little girls even read one of the books we brought to our whole office. It was our favorite part of the day!

Congratulations to Dr. Keefe and Melissa Porter for completing the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk today! Not only did you walk the full 26.2 miles but together you raised $3,000 for this incredible cause. Go "Team Tara"!!
This Marathon is extra special today because of a very special woman who continues to inspire us on a daily basis. Tara Shuman is a 35-year-old mother of two, diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer in August 2012. This walk today was for her and all the other people whose lives have been affected by cancer.
